I've been immersed here since discovering the concept of Bitcoin during the crypto punk era in Prague in 2013. Home to many visionaries who have come to make a great name for themselves since and continue doing so until present time. Initially, I saw it as a fun, novel philosophical idea about how one might understand the creation and storage of value in the digital world. My philosophy background has always inclined me to seek potential answers to some of them hardest questions that we've faced as a humanity throughout history. Amusingly, in this instance, you might say I didn't fully grasp its potential back then, I paid my college dorm rent with Bitcoin. A decision that, in hindsight, might raise eyebrows today felt completely natural at the time. And I feel that's been the point all along - trying novel things with pinch of curiosity free of weight of expectations. It wasn't until 2017 that I delved deeper into the crypto social layers and began to understand what this technology stack could achieve for humanity. The smart contract programmability has represented a big leap forward in what we could do with all of this. Even with the failed promises of many during infamous Ethereum ICO era. When I first entered, I never imagined the incredible journey that lay ahead. I began as a mere lurker with CH's whiteboard video in 2017. Duh - not too original at this point - but that's what made it even more special. The alignment and inspiration that the whiteboard produced have made tens of thousands of people fall in love with the art of the possible. An alternative to a status quo that seems more and more unsustainable as time passes. It was a very special moment for me and equally for - dare to say - many of us. Busy with my previous life, I watched from the sidelines. To reignite my interest, I launched a single operator stake-pool (now retired) to help usher in the Shelley era in 2020. I was obsessed with finding people like myself and spent nearly all my waking hours for months at end helping ensure @cardano social forums were safe from scammers, especially on Telegram, as thousands began onboarding into the space. This led to an opportunity to join @cardano_cf as an ambassador and global moderator to help shepherding safe environment for curious minds to explore. But there was more to it than that. Shortly after, following few chats with @timbharrison and @garbash I dived full on into @Catalyst_onX, which has, nearly five years later, brought me to where I am today. I joined Catalyst because I believe in the power of innovation and improvement coming form any one of us anywhere. I always envisioned Catalyst as a path to achieving better outcomes, and over the years, it has proven me right. The sum of all parts is the secret. Nearly five years in, the program has allocated over $150 million across 2,100 projects, with completion % rates in the high 80s while pioneering a milestone based funding model. Virtually touching every available corner of Cardano’s expansive landscape. Truly elevating the sense of individual ownership that project owners exert over time. I'm continually amazed by what the synergy of human and financial capital can accomplish. Two years ago, the Catalyst team introduced a bold new vision for the future. After nine iterations, it became evident that change was essential to firmly establish Catalyst as a cornerstone of this ecosystem - should it continue be fit for purpose going forward. During the break between Fund9 and Fund10, we unveiled an initial roadmap to set this vision in motion. With refreshed leadership, things began to take shape. I stepped into the role of leading day-to-day operations, marking a significant step in professionalizing and elevating the business makeup of Catalyst. Something I've been keen on from day 1 of stepping into the Catalyst seeing its immense potential and I've never looked back. Together with @krissbaird at the helm, we've built a phenomenal, world-class team that leads an unparalleled institution. We serve a unique community with a product that transcends individuals, borders, and cultures. People from all walks of life come together to solve complex problems collaboratively, in a manner that is kind, safe, and inspiring. Since restructuring, it’s been an incredible journey. Catalyst has completed four successful funding rounds (F10, F11, F12, F13), bringing predictability and reliability to the ecosystem while enhancing the overall efficacy and efficiency of the program. Forged a pathway on exploring alternative voting methods to elevate new decision making mechanisms or further improving and integrating technological stack. Equally important has been keeping up with the ever-evolving regulatory landscape, ensuring ongoing support for participants in a way that radiates confidence in the business world. This approach has unlocked participation from not just individuals, but also Fortune 500 companies, and even governments. Collectively, we've become a trusted partner for innovators and ecosystems worldwide, operating as a professional outfit at scale. Remarkably, it all began as an empty field on day one. Fascinating what common direction does when time passes by. Sometimes it still gets me how it has all unfolded since. Our team consistently tries to meet challenges head-on with unwavering commitment. It's not always a straightforward pathway but key north star has been making sure we've put ecosystem as a top priority no matter how much effort it required us to make it happen. I am incredibly proud of our Fund Operations team specifically and the broader Catalyst family, including our brilliant product and engineering colleagues who support our mission every step of the way. Tho there are many others who help directly or indirectly over time and the list would be so long just thanking them all for being patient with us and entrusting with confidence that what we do matters and can be done. Even if not all answers are present. It's not easy, but where the absence of tools might have held us back, we've excelled with state-of-the-art 'duct tape-engineering' paired with human ingenuity. We’ve learned a lot, adapted quickly with creative problem-solving, and stayed deeply connected to the community’s needs, continuously refining Catalyst to be the best it can be. It’s been awesome to watch Catalyst Working Groups unite over 1,000 participants across every continent. Through 25 working groups, they've discussed how we might build and operate Catalyst for the better. And that's exactly what has informed our future roadmap ever since. I am eternally grateful for these feedback loops, as they highlight how much we can learn when we work together. Catalyst is an ever-evolving, organic mechanism. When I took on the role of leading the department responsible for day-to-day excellence over two years ago, I was confident that together we could build something pivotal for this ecosystem. Pillar that has carried the burden of trying to be everything to everyone when it has mattered the most - the pitfalls of blockchain bear markets. That belief has only grown stronger over time as those individuals and organizations are now trailblazing their own pathways via programs like @draper_u, @undp Alt Fin Lab, @Techstars, and @CV_Labs. Showing what talent when paired with right mentorship and opportunities can achieve. And that's a great sense of satisfaction when seeing that unfold. Taking their story further than ever before. All thanks to the collective sense of community that decided that we can indeed solve wicked problems together if we put our minds to it. And they've been doing exactly that. A defining moment for me was the release of the first-ever Catalyst Horizons Annual Report in 2025 that you can find our Catalyst website. A moment of pause and stare when you lift your head from the ever revolving business of day to day. It showcased the collective effort and passion that our team and community have invested in this journey, something we've often struggled to articulate effectively but have always felt deeply through our shared experience. Now, it presents facts and figures that proudly represent the intent of the Cardano ecosystem to date. A playbook that - to no one's surprise - should be applicable and replicable anywhere. It’s been an incredible honor to serve the Cardano community on a global scale. I’m humbled and remain the biggest fan of what we’ve achieved together. Does it mean we've solved all the puzzles yet? Far from it. The Cardano governance process has demonstrated that coordinating a globally distributed and diverse ecosystem is no easy task. This is expected, yet people show up every day and give it their best. Some days bring more frustration than others, but the journey always continues. Progress may be slow at times, but we advance incrementally, only to occasionally make sudden leaps forward. And that's what the conclusion of our Fund10 operations proposal has meant to me. Like a tour of duty completion leaving a lasting mark on the space that's unlike any other. A privilege of a lifetime of being entrusted to do so and then deliver exactly so and more. A very proud moment that I’ll remember for ever. As such, professionally, this has been the highlight of my career, and I’m eager to see what the future holds, even if I can't predict my next steps. But I know this: none of it would have been possible without two key figures. Satoshi, with his vision for Bitcoin that caught my interest first time around, and then later on @IOHK_charles, who advanced space through vision of Cardano and passed it now with all founding entities on to all of us. This is the age of Voltaire in Cardano. Regardless of personal opinions about any individuals, their actions and the ripple effects they’ve initiated are undeniable and have left a lasting mark on our complex journey of humanity. And I'd argue for the better. And that's how humanity progresses each day. Through perfectly imperfect actions one step at a time. So here’s to all of you - let’s keep our curiosity alive and continue exploring what’s possible tomorrow that isn’t today. That’s how we shape the future. If I had only one wish, it would be to exercise a bit more patience and extend more grace to one another. So let's not get comfortable, idle, or cynical - tho I can appreciate that's all too easy in today's world. But if we can - and I know we surely can - let's show each other where a better world is to be found and work towards those common goals together. Launching my clinic must mean that I'm leaving crypto. They ignore the monthly updates, the large dedicated team on leios. The spaces. The videos. Every time I meet Charles or have a conversation with him, he talks about the people, the builders of Cardano, what they are working on, and he does so with a level of enthusiasm that genuinely surprises me. He is truly proud of them. Out of everything I’ve experienced, two moments offered a rare and meaningful look into who Charles is beneath the surface. One took place in July of last year in Argentina, during an incredible event we held. At the end, there were two full blocks of people lined up for a photo with Charles, and he did not leave until every single person had their photo taken. The second moment happened around October. I wanted to speak with him to provide feedback on the constitutional process and his company. He not only listened, he arranged a meeting with the entire executive team of Input Output. He and the company president opened a digital notebook and began writing down everything I shared. Imagine the humility that takes, and how meaningful that was for me. I have always been just a community member who joined the ecosystem at 22 years old, and there I was, speaking to the founder of Cardano, with the CEO and the president of Input Output taking notes on my feedback. That moment marked me deeply. For me, Charles has been a kind of mentor, someone I truly admire. He lives by the philosophy that there is always room at the table for one more. No matter who he is with, he always stands up to greet others. If someone from the community arrives, he will even leave his table to approach them, start a conversation, and ask for their opinion. I have seen him, time and time again, always willing to listen to ideas, speaking to hundreds or thousands of people across the world, actively listening, asking questions, and truly being part of the conversation. I have never seen him turn anyone away. I know how hard it is to convey personal experiences, and I do not expect everyone to relate. Still, I feel compelled to share a side of him not everyone gets to see. Public perception is often shaped by what we see on social media, but there is much more beyond that, and some things are worth sharing.

@IOHK_Charles· about 1 month agoWe got Leios, Hydra, Midnight, and Bitcoin DeFi alongside governance, security and decentralization. Bitcoin DeFi is indeed the largest opportunity, but the single biggest issue is that we are missing a competent Foundation and executive authority to push these narratives into the mindset of the space. This is why so many people push for me to step up and represent the entire ecosystem. I feel their frustration and exhaustion especially when we are mocked by podcasters and "thought leaders" who write off Cardano as a cult or a dying chain. No one is more frustrated than IOG given we are at the nexus of amazing innovation and see that Cardano is best positioned to capture the next trillion dollars of growth. Rare Evo is going to be one of the most important events for us as we need to discuss how to correct lingering governance issues, update the constitution to add delegated executive authority, get a sovereign wealth fund started, and showcase all the remarkable innovation. We continue to act as one of the core coordinators for the ecosystem. It's been brutal and expensive this year. It's also been dehumanizing as we have been blamed for everything wrong and aren't allowed to feel any wins. The trolls organized and crossed social and legal lines that cannot be taken back. The silence of many of the OGs in our ecosystem was also deafening. Being accused of stealing hundreds of millions without any evidence was the lowest point of my career. We continue to move on, but remember the people who contributed to the problems and broken narratives. Hold them accountable accordingly.
