This upgrade improves the economics of STRK staking and brings greater transparency to validator behavior: allowing delegators to evaluate and compare validator liveness and reliability ahead of their future role in Starknet consensus (targeting EOY). From now on: > Validators must attest to randomly selected blocks each epoch. > They can also adjust their commission, but only under strict, time-locked conditions. > Delegators can monitor validator liveness and commission policies across all staking UIs, and switch at any time if needed. This v2 implementation is a major step toward Starknet’s full decentralization. Now we’re doubling down to ship v3 by the end of the year, and bring Bitcoin staking to Starknet.

This upgrade brings two key features for validators: > Block Attestation: Validators will now need to attest to randomly selected blocks during each epoch, proving they’re actively tracking the network and reliable. > Commission Adjustments: Validators will be able to raise their commission, but only under strict conditions designed to protect delegators. More details on both features in the next tweets. To enable this upgrade on Mainnet, the staking contracts will be paused for a few hours, allowing the migration from v1 to v2 and giving validators time to integrate. As a delegator, there’s nothing you need to do for this migration. But once v2 is live on June 17, validator liveness metrics will become visible, a key factor for your rewards. In addition to the S-two work from Starkware team, they have placed more emphasis on token performance (which is needed by all L2 teams trying to reignite enthusiasm for their token) Right now, there are currently two delegation programs by StarkWare and by Starknet FND. Total STRK staked is now 420m+ which is ~12% of supply, its easier than ever to become a profitable validators on Starknet. The main point here is to push towards a progressively decentralized future for the chain. Hearing that the team will introduce multiple sequencers for the first time as well. With L2beat becoming more strict on their ranking systems (and the FUD from alt-L1s), I imagine more rollup teams will prioritize their decentralized roadmap.

It has higher scale and a better approach to scale - which is not by increasing the CPU/memory of those who want to track the network and validate it. Let me repeat that: NOT BY INCREASING CPU/MEMORY OF THOSE WHO WANT TO TRACK THE NETWORK AND VALIDATE IT. Starknet can support massive compute (for perps, gaming, other TPS-hungry use cases) that Solana cannot offer, meaning Starknet's heavy-computing exchanges (like Extended and Paradex) will give better value to users. We can process transactions in the thousands of TPS, including very complex ones. Most crucially, as we continue to scale Starknet to 10K and 100K TPS we can do so *without* requiring end users to purchase a server. Use the very same laptop as you do today🙂
